FOCUS - APRIL 2018 3 Miss Teapot (Melissa Durward) is this year’s new nursery rhyme char- acter and is the 8th to join in on the fun at the Port Perry Easter Bonnet Parade and Contest. Melissa was born and raised in Port Perry and actually is wearing two hats this Easter. Aside from her spectacular porcelain teapot bonnet – equipped with floating sugar cubes and tea pouring out of the spout, she also wears the hat of being co-chair of this beloved event. “The Church Chicks are extra excited to put on this event this year as it falls on April Fools… there’ll be extra fun in store,” says Miss Teapot. Aside from the Easter Bonnet spectacle, there’ll be the spring ani- mal petting zoo, the Chick Shoppe full of fun Easter toys for sale and of course the Nutty Chocolatier will be opened in case you have a need for some extra sweets! Remember that every registered hat gets a Cakes by Stephanie cupcake as well as a beautiful ribbon donated by The Kid’s Cupboard. All money raised from the petting zoo and bonnet event goes directly to the Scugog Memorial Library Children’s and Teen Area.
